I agree, an angelcare monitor fits right under the mattress and can monitor sound and movement. It alarms if no motion for 10-15 seconds. We have used them with our triplets who are now 6 months old and they are wonderful. We are able to sleep and they are not bothered by all of the wires.

Wow, I have been out of the military (AF) for about 4 years now, and I was only granted 0 PERCENT I have gallbladder issues, and Allergies.. I do understand that people have other things going on with them, so some of the other post were kinda RUDE. Having allergies is horrible at times, depending on the extent. I dont get paid anything because I had no idea to keep going back to the va.. I work....Sometimes 7 days a week, I have small kids... Get a job and work and if the VA grants you something be glad yo got that, because I didnt get anything... Why would you want to get medical retirement and disability??

we all get periods of stopping breathing during sleep the important thing i how long and how frequent and does the oxygen saturation gets low. is the person sleepy during daytime does the person have headache does the person snore is the person overweight and has fat neck.

if the apnea was due to soft cartilages structure during early childhood then yes you grow out of it
the condition may affect adults
when diagnosed the est thing is to check thyroid nose and to reduce wight and special device delivering air to a nasal or facial mask may be needed it is called cont. positive airway pressure device

Though I've had this condition for years (and yes, it is very scary) last night was a banner night. Every stinking time I started to drift off, I stopped breathing and bolt straight up gasping for air. What was weird this time, however, was that during on particular episode, it was difficult to take that breath...almost like my body didn't know how to do it. Really weird. Anyway, here I sit exhausted at work because I really only slept maybe two hours...it took THAT long to fall asleep.

I would see about getting a mat type monitor. The wires can be hidden under sheets and out of his way. While the mat type monitors aren`t quite as detailed (They don`t leave a record of breathing patterns), they do monitor whether the child is breathing or not - which may be all you need.
